Stem cell treatment is something that has been experimentally used for about 10 years. Stem cells are taken from the embryo of an aborted or miscarried fetus. Some are against this practice for religious or moral convictions. Stem cell treatment has been said to show some positive results in treating some people. However, at this point in time this kind of treatment is guaranteed in any way.

Essentially stem cell treatments work by injecting stem cells into the human body. For example, someone suffering from chronic pain of the spine would be directly injected into the affected area with stem cells in hopes of getting some kind of relief.

Stem Cells

Usually stem cell therapy is a last resort when all other forms of therapy fail. This is still a form of controversial therapy. It is now being tried on people suffering with Epstein Barr Syndrome. Again, it is an experimental treatment that is only available in mainly foreign countries.

Other therapies include Chelation therapy. This form of therapy is also considered alternative medicine. This therapy involves injecting EDTA directly into a vein. EDTA is injected in an attempt to remove heavy metals from the system. Heavy metals can be quite harmful to the human body.

Side effects of Chelation therapy include:

  • Nausea Vomiting.
  • Dizziness.
  • Burning, Tingling Sensations.
  • High Fever.
  • Rash at Injection Site.

Acupuncture Moxibustion is a form of acupuncture which involves inserting tiny needles into specific areas of the body in an attempt to alleviate pain. This procedure has been used for at least a hundred years with some success. Keep in mind acupuncture is also a form of alternative medicine.

Gerovital is another form of alternative therapy. Gerovital in injected into the bloodstream through a vein. Gerovital (Procaine) an anesthetic or numbing agent. It was believed to have properties which slowed the progression of aging. There are always side effects associated with therapy of this kind. Gerovital side effects include headaches, heartburn, rash. Long term use of Procaine can possibly cause Lupus in some people.

Conclusion

Stem cell therapy was also researched as a possible treatment for Parkinson’s disease. It is not a cure however it is possible that stem cell injections may have relieved some of the more serious symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease is quite serious and some symptoms include extreme shaking of the hands and sometimes the feet. Loss of coordination and speech may also be affected by this disease.

Stem cell therapy will also be debated as to weather or not it does help treat some diseases. Stem cell therapy is available more freely in other countries outside of the United States.
