Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine which involves the use of either bamboo, earthenware or bamboo vacuumed cups to suction the skin. There are two basic type of cupping including wet and dry cupping. In wet cupping, suction is done for a while then an artificial incision. After, the incision, the cupping is repeated to draw a little blood from the area. On the other hand, the dry cupping only involves suctioning through the vacuumed cups, no incisions done. During the therapy, the practitioner applies oil, especially, those with medicinal herbs on the body surface to facilitate easy movement of the cups. The cups are then left for about 5 to 15 minutes, during which the skins reddens. This is as a result of blood congestion. Cupping is mostly used with other therapies for maximum benefits.

Therapies Used With Cupping

  • IV Hydration – IV hydration therapy is the intravenous administration of fluids into the body. This especially for patients with acute cases of dehydration. This therapy is very efficient in the relief of hangovers, flu, fatigue and boosting athletic performance.
  • Acupuncture – Acupuncture refers to the insertion of very fine needles to the body strategic points. It is based that these needles will open up pathways for the balanced flow of energy in the body and thus restore health. When cupping is used along with acupuncture, it may be efficient in the treatment of herpes Zoster and acnes.
  • Nutrition Therapy – Nutrition therapy involves the administration of vital minerals and vitamins to the body. Myers Cocktails is the most popular iv nutritional therapy used. It helps to restore energy levels while treating some conditions, such as, asthma.

Conclusion

Cupping, during the recent years, is being incorporated into conventional western medicine Miami. Cupping on its own is efficient in the treatment of a range of skin conditions. However, it is used to back-up other therapies to treat a range of conditions. It is important to note that after a cupping therapy, you will be left with red marks for approximately 10 days. Also, bruising may be observed in the suction areas. But with the marks, comes the assurance for expected results.

I would advise that when looking for a practitioner to administer the therapy, you ensure that they are experts in the field. also, opt for silicon cups as they suppress the bruising.
