Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field Therapy or PEMF is a form of treatment that is used by medical professionals for healing a variety of conditions, diseases and illnesses. This treatment is also used privately by individuals who want to improve their overall health. Physicians and doctors prescribe PEMF treatments for patients. They use this process to heal bones, to alleviate chronic pain and to combat depression. PEMF is also used to improve circulation, blood pressure, cholesterol levels and to balance a person’s immune system. This process can be used in conjunction with other treatments such as platelet rich plasma therapy which is also known as prp injections. PEMF is used by physicians and psychiatrists to treat mental disorders that people experience as well. Keep in mind that chemical imbalances occur within the brain as well as the body and PEMF treatments can help to put them back in order.
PEFM Treatment Process
There are two basic types of PEMF treatments. One type is static and the other is pulse. Static treatments use traditional magnets that polarize the negative end. The negative side of a magnet provides the best result for PEMF static treatments. The reason being is that the negative pole stimulates the electrical pulses within the human body to a greater degree. The magnets are placed in strategic positions on a person’s body and they remain there until a patient receives the intended result. Pulse PEMF treatments are given by machine. PEMF machines are designed to give off an electrical pulse which is then passed into a person’s body. This affects the current within a person’s body at the molecular level. There are three basic types of PEMF machines and they include:
- Hand held devices that can be applied directly to a trouble spot on the body.
- Machines with straps that can be attached to a person’s body.
- Pillows and pads that require a patient to lie down on them to receive treatment.
PEMF Treatment Effectiveness
PEMF treatments are effective but they do not work in all situations. People who use PEMF treatments should do so without placing too much hope in them. Yes, PEMF treatments do work to alleviate many medical conditions and problems but they are not a cure all for everything that goes wrong with a person’s body. Hospitals typically use this technology for some patients when they would benefit from this therapy. For example, chelating therapy is sometimes used on patients to remove metals from their blood. When this happens the electrical currents within the body can become distorted. PEMF treatments can restore the electrical imbalances. Alternative therapies such as milk thistle seed extract benefits can even be used with this PEMF therapy. PEMF treatments are fairly safe and usually does not create any side effects in a person’s system. A patient should check with their doctors before they decide to use this form of treatment. Also, keep in mind that most commercial PEMF machines are fairly expensive. Some of these units can cost as much as $3,000 or more.
