Outside of western medicine, there seems to be a well known connection between the body and mind which dares to state that having a healthy mind and/or spirit will, in turn, yield a healthy body as well. This phenomenon is becoming more and more prevalent in our medical culture which, for so long, has be based solely on science and scientific factual findings. More and more people our embracing the idea of mind body connectedness and Integrative medicine. Is this just a growing fad, or might a more holistic approach to your health be more beneficial to you in the long run.

Medicine is Not Working and is Overwhelming

It seems as though you have every ailment known to mankind. You have been to every doctor and specialist and your medicine cabinet looks like an actual pharmacy. You are taking medicine for one thing, but it makes you nauseous and causes hair loss, so Dr. Jo prescribes something for the side effects of your prescription. Then he goes on to tell you to start taking vitamin D because the medicine he prescribed to combat the side effects of your actual illness is depleting your system of vitamin D. To make matters worse, you don’t seem to be getting any better. It may be time to seek out a Center for integrated medicine. It will be beneficial to find a center that includes programs which focus on not only your physical health, but emotional and spiritual health such as:

  • Yoga
  • Nutrition and Cooking
  • Tai Chi
  • Stress reduction techniques

The Emotional and Stressful Side of Healing

The road to recovery and the healing process can be riddle with so much stress that at times, it seems unbearable. Having the feeling that you are a patient number or a diseased liver instead of a human being with feelings and emotions can be overwhelming. Many people wrapped up in western medicine find themselves losing their Identity. Those who began to feel this way may wish to make the transition to integrated medicine and mor natural healing therapies.
