At this point, most people have at least heard of intravenous IV therapy – the intravenous (injected into the vein) admission of micro-nutrients. But is the practice utilized to its full potential yet? Probably not. For some people, eating healthy and taking vitamins can be enough, but for others, for example, cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, taking vitamins barely makes a difference in replenishing their body’s nutrients. Every patient’s distinct metabolic needs makes it difficult to offer a general vitamin and diet-based solution. Intravenous IV therapy allows doctors to create a personalized nutritional profile for their patients, whether they are fighting cancer or some other nutrition depleting disease.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is known to boost the immune system, protect against sickness, increase resistance to disease, and much more. But, the less widely known fact is that vitamin C, when administered through an IV, is used to help kill cancer cells. Vitamin C is so effective because it is selectively toxic and doesn’t harm healthy cells. IV Vitamin C therapy has been proven effective against several types of cancer:

  • Brain
  • Colon
  • Lung
  • Breast
  • Pancreatic
  • Ovarian

To be effective, it must be administered using IV therapy. The body limits the amount of vitamin C you can absorb if taken orally, but intravenous methods bypass the body’s control mechanism.

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle, also known as Silymarin, has been a part of over 300 intravenous clinical and lab trials. It is being tested for its potential to make chemotherapy more effective, as well as its ability to kill cancer cells. However, doctors already use milk thistle, intravenously to save lives in poisoning cases. The reason for this is that milk thistle stimulates the growth of new liver cells. This ability makes intravenous milk thistle a great treatment for the damaging effects of alcohol, drugs, and other toxins. The side effects of milk thistle are minor, and may include diarrhea, upset stomach, and nausea.


Glutathione is a substance that’s naturally produced in the liver and can be found in some foods. It repairs and rebuilds tissue and creates other proteins the body needs. Aside from also being used intravenously to prevent the toxic effects of chemotherapy cancer treatment, it is used to treat Parkinson’s disease and diabetes. Other glutathione benefits include improving blood flow and decreasing the risk of clotting experiencing “atherosclerosis” or the hardening of arteries.
