The human body requires a certain amount of water to survive and when it does not receive those fluids, it begins to starve. The results of starving your body from fluids usually means that dehydration will begin to set in. The logical response is to swallow large amounts of water in an attempt to replenish your supply. Unfortunately, this option is not always ideal and the patient will be introduced to IV hydration therapy. In the majority of instances, it is a child that will end up with hydration therapy. This is likely because they are more susceptible to the side effects of dehydration such as fever, vomiting, and possibly diarrhea.

Understanding IV nutrition

One of the main reasons for using IV therapy is the fact that it works faster than it would orally. There are many diseases that depend on good nutrition to help the body fight the attacks. When the body is unable to replenish those vitamins it loses its ability to put up a good defense. More often than not, a body being attacked by something as serious as cancer will render it difficult to consume the appropriate vitamins and nutritional needs. One option that has been used with a great deal of success is IV nutrition therapy. With the vitamins returning to the body through the IV, the patient will improve their chances of a full recovery.

Deficiencies to be Replaced

  • Vitamin E that the body uses to protect itself against certain diseases including macular degeneration.
  • Vitamin C that works to protect the blood from clotting and helps with enzyme activation.
  • Folate, which compliments vitamin B12 for producing and regulating RBC.
  • Calcium, which is important for muscles, nerves, and bones.

Balancing the Odds

IV therapy will work in many instances but some patients who are uncomfortable with the needle will look for alternative options. One of those options is holistic healing which is primarily intended to help the patient live a more balanced lifestyle. It is important to understand that when it comes to most diseases the holistic option is not advisable. The holistic method is designed to treat the whole person and not specific issues. The patient will generally seek their health care provider when an ailment or disease presents itself. Your holistic healer will be focused on your pain but more concerned about what causes it. Unless you suffered an injury, aches and pains can be triggered by a variety of things and these are the areas that the healer will be focused on.
