IPT is an acronym for insulin potentiation therapy. This is an alternative experimental treatment for cancer patients. This process involves the use of insulin which is used to help low-dose chemotherapy treatments. It is also used to treat a variety of other diseases as well as cancer. This particular treatment has been around since the early part of the 20th century. It was first invented by Dr. Donato Perez Garcia, Sr in 1926. Dr. Garcia was a physician who lived in Mexico. When Dr. Garcia was a teenager and young man he was suffering from a condition that was similar to cancer. While the condition was not terminal it did leave him weak. Eventually the young doctor wrote a book about cellular therapy. This book helped him to figure out multiple uses for hormone insulin. This discovery helped to establish the foundation of IPT therapy treatment.
The use of IPT Treatment in the Medical Field
In the past, many cancer treatments were not effective. People would use a wide variety of ancient medical practices to deal with this problem. They used traditional Chinese medicine herbs and acupuncture and cupping to try and combat this problem. However, many traditional Eastern medical practices were not effective for this disease. Dr. Garcia first experimented on himself before trying his out his discoveries on other people. By 1939 many medical and governmental figures received word of Garcia’s treatments. The Mexican government at the time ordered that his treatment must undergo comprehensive scientific investigation. In 1940 Garcia’s treatment was being documented as effective by Mexican army officials. All governments will evaluate a medical treatment to determine:
- The risks associated with this type of treatment.
- What ingredients or substances are contained with a treatment.
- The long term effects of a particular treatment.
IPT use in Modern Times
Currently, the Independent Cancer Foundation states that this form of treatment is sometimes used on patients. While it does help patients in their struggle against cancer it has not been proven to be a cure for this disease. It does have some side effects on people like other therapies such as hydrogen peroxide therapy side effects. IPT treatments have come a long way since the 1940’s and have been accepted with a lot of scrutiny. Many medical researchers and professionals who are familiar with this procedure are not completely sold on its effectiveness. This treatment fell out of favor with cancer treatment around the late 80s to early 90s. Now, it is being reconsidered once again as an alternative way for people to beat cancer.
