Since mankind has existed on the earth, there has always been some kind of medicine being used. Because plants were in abundance in early times, they were greatly depended upon for medical treatments. Out of all types of herbal medicine, ancient Chinese herbal medicine has continued its popularity in to recent modern times due to its surprising effectiveness when other types of prescription medicines fail.

Antibiotic Resistance

One of the biggest threats to all living beings is that of infection. When the body is not strong enough to fight off even mild forms of bacteria and viruses then most people turn to antibiotics. The problem is that antibiotics are being injected in to most animals used for meat which is being passed on to humans and causing dangerous antibiotic resistance. In other words, regular modern antibiotics don’t always work. They become less and less effective the more they are used. Because of this, many people have returned to the use of ancient herbal medicine to treat many types of infections. When using plant medicine, the general goal is to create an environment of balance and harmony within the body so recovering can take place allowing the body to heal on its own. Antibiotics act as a crutch bypassing the body’s own ability to fight off infections on its own. Some types of Chinese herbs used as plant forms of antibiotics include:

  • Huo Xiang Zheng Qi San
  • Shao Yao Tang
  • Ba Zheng Sanang
  • Andrographis paniculata

Why Use Chinese Herbs

With modern medicine so easily available to many people, some question why we still need it. The answer to this is the fact that studies have proven time and time again that Chinese plant medicine works. It isn’t just used for infections. Other health problems such as headaches, cancer, arthritis, and pain can be treated by it. Prescription medicines often have long lists of potential side effects that harm patients who take them. Chinese herbal treatments are healing and natural with few of them having the potential to have side effects. As with all medicine, it is best to check with your doctor before using any of them though.
