Glutathione IV is an protein, composed of three basic amino acids: glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine. It is used as a singular and combination oral supplement, as it shows promise as a superb oxidation inhibiting substance. Those suffering from lung cancer, asthma, liver disease have been known to use this in supplement form.

Supplements can be found at health food stores. Medical doctors can also prescribe the supplementation. There is new research coming out everyday on the use of this protein’s use in various ailments. Used as an inhalant for some diagnosed diseases, it can be used in the medical world as an injection or IV treatment, as well.

Medical uses of internal glutathione

Glutathione has recently gained popularity in the medical community. While is inhaled for those suffering from certain lung diseases, like cystic fibrosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and lungs disease in patients suffering form AIDS, it is also given internally via injections and/or IV.

Glutathione given as injection:

  • male infertility
  • prevention of poisonous side effects of some chemotherapies

Glutathione given as IV (sometimes as an intravenous shot):

  • reverse “tired blood” (anemia caused by hemodialysis in kidney patients)
  • prevention of kidney problems after certain heart surgeries (i.e. bypass)
  • as a treatment of Parkinson’s disease
  • as a treatment for those diagnosed with atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
  • treating diabetes
  • counteraction of chemotherapy’s toxic side effects

Glutathione IV side effects

Glutathione injections side effects include those found in most injection or IV therapies. While there are no known interactions at this time, one must pay careful attention to the site of the injections for signs of skin changes and possible infections, just as you would with any injection and/or Glutathione IV Therapy. Take care to observe any odd or foul smells around the injection site, too, as this could indicate possible tissue necrosis. Those suspecting any side effects should seek medical care immediately to ensure speedy treatment and thwart long term tissue damage.

Special caution is suggested while pregnant or nursing. Since there are medical safety studies to show its efficacy, nor safety, during pregnancy and/or breast feeding. Therefore it is contraindicated to avoid possible glutathione injection side effects.
